You've heard just how long Thom Yorke can hold a falsetto note in the Radiohead classic 'Street Spirit (Fade Out).' So who would be the hard rock or metal equivalent? The Darkness' Justin Hawkins of course.

As the band lead up to the release of their third studio record 'Hot Cakes' next month, the group has premiered a metal-based cover of the Radiohead song at Pitchfork. The Darkness' version of the track takes it away from a moodiness of the original, and features more driving and chugging guitar sounds, sped up drumming, and, of course, Hawkins' best metal wails.

The track has been part of the Darkness' live catalog for years, but having reunited to play and record more music, this seemed like the perfect time to dust off their cover and commit it to record. The song will be part of the 'Hot Cakes' album when it arrives Aug. 21.

In addition to the Radiohead cover, the Darkness has another reason to celebrate today. Their lead single, 'Everybody Have a Good Time,' heads to radio this week, and the awesome new video for the track recently debuted.

The 'Hot Cakes' album itself is currently available for pre-order here.
