It was just a few years ago when a roughly shot YouTube clip of three pre-teens playing metal on the streets of New York City caught the attention of the music world. The band was Unlocking the Truth, and now they've made the journey from the streets to a major label record deal.

We caught up with singer-guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, drummer Jarad Dawkins and bassist Alec Atkins to talk about a number of topics, including their rise from street musicians to playing major festivals and signing a record deal.

The band also talked about how they got into metal, and it wasn't because of their parents. Find out the unique way they embraced the genre in the video interview above.

Unlocking the Truth are working on their debut EP, which can be ordered in advance via the band's PledgeMusic campaign. Also, look for the band playing South By Southwest, the Rise Above Fest, Rock on the Range and Bonnaroo this year.
