Alkaline Trio to Release ‘Is This Thing Cursed?’ LP This August + Listen to New Song
It's been five long years since Alkaline Trio have released a new album, but the wait is almost over as Is This Thing Cursed? will come out Aug. 31 via Epitaph Records. The first single is entitled “Blackbird,” and it can be listened to above. The full track listing for the LP can be found below.
According to the band, there are some similarities to their Maybe I'll Catch Fire album. Co-vocalist Dan Andriano says, "The songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on. We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig.”
Last month, the band announced their first tour in three years kicks off Aug. 3 at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, Tex. It's the first since frontman Matt Skiba joined Blink-182. The extensive run continues through mid October, and includes a stop at Riot Fest in Chicago Sept. 14. A full list of dates can be found at this location.
“Seems like ages since we’ve properly toured and we couldn’t be more excited to get back out and play for the best fans a band could ask for,” Skiba said about the trek in a statement. “If people are half as psyched as we are then it’s gonna be a party!”
The last album released by Alkaline Trio was My Shame Is True, which came out in the spring of 2013 and peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Is This Thing Cursed? will be the ninth full-length from the group. Artwork for the record can be seen below.
