October will mark 30 years since Anthrax's second album Spreading the Disease was released. It included classic tracks such as "Madhouse" and "A.I.R." In a new interview with Examiner.com, drummer Charlie Benante reveals they have been working on a special anniversary edition of the disc.

"I’ve been working on this other project where I’m doing the Spreading the Disease 30th Anniversary thing, where I’m putting a bunch of bonus material on the second disc," Benante says. "It’s going to be really good."

There's no firm release date for the reissue yet, but Benante says it should be out by the end of the year. He also talked the new album Anthrax have been working on for a while, which he now says will likely be released at the beginning of 2016. When asked about the new album's release date, the drummer replied, "Probably beginning of next year. Because if we do the Spreading the Disease release at the end of this year, we don’t want to put two things out at the same time."

As far as the new, album Benante adds, "Well there’s a lot of songs so it’s taking long because of the quantity. I was out in L.A. a week and a half ago, I spent two days in the studio there working with Jon [Donais] on guitar leads and stuff. That was smoking, that’s coming together really well."

As to the sound of the record, Benante says, "It’s sounding like Anthrax. The songs that were heavy on the last record are heavy on this one, the songs that were fast on the last record are faster on this one. So it’s definitely moving in that direction. For some reason it just flowed. The songs, and the amount of them, just flowed. I think it was because I was inspired by the last record, and the success of the last record. Good momentum goes a long way."

Anthrax will play the final metal show at the House of Blues on Hollywood's Sunset Strip on July 29. It's being torn down and redeveloped. The band will be playing some festivals in August and September and also touring with Motorhead for a handful of September shows before embarking on Motorhead's Motorboat Cruise.
