Dead Cross Deliver Religious Throwdown With ‘Church of the Motherf–kers’ Video
Step right up! Odds are you didn't expect to see a bare knuckle throwdown featuring a pair of priests today, but that may not even be the craziest thing in Dead Cross' new video for "Church of the Motherf--kers."
The clip opens with a quote from German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who states, "The influence of a man has never yet grown great without his blind pupils." From the quote on a darkened backdrop, the viewer is then taken into a religious gathering, with a pair of priests squaring off in the center of a circle of youths who are cheering the religious figures to fight. What follows is a bloody, bare knuckles free for all.
The black and white clip also features two other major narratives, with a nun kneeling in great distress thanks to a ritual with communion wafers and a male teen falling to the group and beginning to show his pregnancy, screaming in agony. The climax of the clip comes with the teen finally bursting as the two priests, much worse for wear, break from their brawl to look skyward in awe.
What does it all mean? Dead Cross' Justin Pearson told Revolver, who premiered the clip, "We are not capable of understanding aspects of molecular genetics, let alone the universe. I'd rather not fill in the blanks with outlandish oppressive morals, offensive social politics and patriarchal garbage. In the year 2017 A.D., some humans still think there is a god."
