Welcome back, Guitar Hero. The video game franchise is ready to once again make a splash by upping the experience factor for the player in a new game called Guitar Hero Live.

As seen in the trailer above, this is not just your typical scales scrolling across the screen. Instead, Guitar Hero Live offers two intriguing new game modes. 'GH Live' provides the player with a first-person point of view where you are the one actually up onstage and rocking the crowd as part of the show. This giant leap forward allows you to gauge how you're doing as the audience reacts to how well or how poorly you're playing. Much like past games, you still have a wide array of tracks to choose from and you can play a variety of venues, but you better be on your game when step out there.

The second game mode is dubbed 'GHTV.' In this mode, you get playable live music videos on an ever-growing network and you're allowed to play along to your favorite tracks. In 'GHTV' mode, you'll be able to play with your friends in the same room or against players from around the world to see who can master the best score. Both game play modes are playable on consoles as well as tablets and mobile phones.

As heard in the trailer, gamers can take their stab at The Black Keys, but there's also hundreds of playable songs from the likes of Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil and others that will be announced in the coming months. As part of the launch, My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz are in New York today (April 14) to showcase their songs in the game as part of an introduction at the Best Buy Theater. There will also be similar introduction ceremonies where fans can test out their skills on April 18 at the Best Buy Stores in New York City's Union Square and in Torrance, Calif.

Activision's Guitar Hero Live will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and select mobile devices. Learn more about the game and pre-order it ahead of the fall release here.
