Jack White Teams With Insane Clown Posse for Mozart Single
What's going on in that immensely creative little noggin of former White Stripes frontman Jack White? Maybe he's been sipping on too much Faygo? Perhaps he's taking the name of his record label, Third Man Records, a bit too literally? Or could this just be a sick, twisted joke?
Whatever it is, White -- who has produced tracks for country legend Loretta Lynn and old-school rocker Wanda Jackson, along with indie acts the Greenhornes and the Von Bondies -- is teaming up with none other than the notorious rap duo Insane Clown Posse to release a song called 'Leck Mich Im Arsch,' or translated into English, 'Lick Me in the Arse.'
A press release claims that 'Arse' was written by 18th-century classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and who are we to question that? White handles production duties on the tune, which features Mozart's melody (with lyrics sung in operatic German), fellow Detroit natives Insane Clown Posse's "poignant lyrical addition in English" (the press release's words, not ours) and backing instrumentation in the form of monster guitar riffage from Nashville-based lo-fi rockers Jeff the Brotherhood.
'Leck Mich Im Arsch' will be issued by Third Man on Sept. 13 as a 7-inch vinyl single and iTunes digital download. In addition, 100 tri-color versions of the vinyl single will be for sale at the Third Man Rolling Record Store on Sept. 17 at the MI Fest (where White's band the Raconteurs are playing) in Brooklyn, Mich., and another 50 tri-colors will be inserted into randomly selected Third Man mail orders until all copies are gone.
And with a meeting of the minds this perverse, we expect them to be gone real quick.
