Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has announced a further batch of West Coast dates for his Papa Wheelie project. The power trio has added a handful of dates in San Francisco and surrounding cities to its planned itinerary, which also includes a gig slated for November with Kyuss Lives.

The band doles out "stoner punk metal" and Newsted has adopted the moniker "Jaylor" when playing in the band. He is joined by Swiiglor (real name: Steve Wiig), who smashes the skins, while Joefus (Joe Ledesma) plays bass. Newsted is rocking guitar and singing in this project. One could surmise that he is the James Hetfield of the group, no?

Papa Wheelie will also play a late October date with thrash stalwarts Anvil. While the band is remaining localized in Northern California, let's hope that Newsted and co. make their way east sometime in the future. We'd like to see them, too.

Here is the band's itinenary:

Oct. 22 - Time Out Sports Bar - Concord, Calif.
Oct. 27 - Red Devil Lounge - San Francisco, Calif.
Oct. 29 - 9 Lives - Gilroy, Calif.                                                                                                                                            Nov. 05 - Fourth Street Tavern - San Rafael, Calif.
Nov. 19 - The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco Calif.
