In this edition of Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez's Friday Riff (video above), she picks a bone with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, who will induct six acts not named Judas Priest tomorrow (April 14) in Ohio.

A band is eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first significant recording, meaning that the Priest have been eligible for quite some time — since 1999 to be precise. They received their first nomination in 2017, but failed to make it on the induction ballot, leaving headbangers with their heads hung low for yet another year.

Toni uses Tom Morello's three qualifications for induction (impact, influence and awesomeness) which he mentioned during his fiery speech when KISS were finally granted entry inside the hallowed pyramid walls of the Rock Hall establishment. Judas Priest check all three boxes, especially "impact": even the Black Sabbath worshipping Zakk Wylde conceded that Priest were the first true metal band. Hell, they invented the leather and studs image that is now synonymous with heavy metal.

We may not even have Metallica without Judas Priest. Let that sink in.

So while Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Thorpe all receive their honors at the induction ceremony, we — and hopefully you — will be at home spinning Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, British Steel, Stained Class, Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin and the other classic albums that make Priest worthy of getting the nod.
