Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee Pokes Fun at Lars Ulrich With ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Meme

Oh memes -- you make the Internet so much funnier! But a recent meme surfacing online finds Motley Crue's Tommy Lee poking some fun at Metallica's Lars Ulrich, and has caused the Crue stickman to defend his right to make a joke.

The joke in question is tied to the Straight Outta Compton meme generator that flooded social networking a few weeks ago coinciding with the film's release. Internet users were allowed to construct their own memes out of inputted photos and changing "Compton" to whatever word fit inside the iconic graphic. The meme that Lee posted via Twitter featured Lars Ulrich's photo with the graphic "Straight Outta Tempo."

As expected, Lee's posting got plenty of responses, some laughing along with him and others ready to stand up for Ulrich. After a little bit of backlash, Lee had another post calling out "idiots that think any of my posts are serious." He added that his intent was a "joke." Check out both posts below.

There is actually a history of animosity between Metallica and Motley Crue, with Ulrich accusing Motley Crue of playing to a tape at the American Music Awards in 1997. Nikki Sixx then blasted Ulrich right back in an "open letter" on an AOL message board.
