Listen to One of Oli Herbert’s Final Recordings ‘Here Comes the Rain Again’
A video has surfaced of one of late All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert's final recordings. The song is a cover of the Eurythmics' '80s hit "Here Comes the Rain Again." The acoustic cover was recorded by A Dead Desire's Moroni Silva with Herbert on guitar. Listen to the song below, and try to keep a dry eye.
UPDATE 2:30 pm ET: Herbert's widow, Elizabeth, shared a statement on Herbert's Facebook page earlier regarding the song. "To be clear, if anything is to be released after Oli’s death and it isn’t All That Remains material, you need me, the executrix of the estate to sign off on it," she says. View the full statement below.
Silva finished tracking his vocals for the song after Herbert died. "Oli was a good friend and wanted to release the song at the start of the rain season, so it was released on the New Moon of the 5th of this month and dedicated to him....I loved the way he did the guitar and when we added the cello and vocals, he couldn’t wait to release it,” Silva told MetalSucks.
Herbert unexpectedly died this past fall. He was found unresponsive in a pond in his backyard, and the Connecticut police are still investigating and treating the death as suspicious. A few months ago, it was revealed that he had signed his will a week before his passing.
All That Remains are still recovering from the loss of their bandmate, and are moving forward with the band. They recently announced the permanent addition of guitarist Jason Richardson to the band. They released a statement Feb. 5:
All That Remains would like to clarify that guitarist Jason Richardson is now an official member of the band. Some recent interviews were conducted before a decision was made or announced regarding Jason. But the band has indeed welcomed him into the fold as an official member and is excited to get back on the tour and play for fans.
