New Zealand's young mega pop star Lorde and her music may not be on your radar, but whether you realize it or not, you've probably heard her current No. 1 pop hit 'Royals' by now. Regardless of your take on her current music, here's something we can all enjoy from her!

Back when she was even younger, a 12-year-old Lorde (then known as Ella) had a band at school named Extreme and it turns out they rocked pretty hard. In this video, the band covers the Rainbow classic 'Man on the Silver Mountain' at a battle of the bands competition. Lorde and another girl trade off vocal parts of the song and it all sounds pretty solid. Extreme wound up in third place in this competition.
