Shaman’s Harvest Find ‘The Devil in Our Wake’ in New Video – Exclusive Premiere
Last year was a big one for veteran rockers Shaman's Harvest. They dropped their sixth album, Red Hands Black Deeds while also spending a good portion of the year supporting Nickelback on their massive North American run. They're keeping the momentum rolling in 2018 with a new music video for the rumbling "The Devil in Our Wake," premiering right here at Loudwire, and the group has a slew of tour dates coming up as well.
A recurring element of this video is fire, which has the power to destroy but also purify and spur new growth from its ashes. This idea seems to resonate with Shaman's Harvest, who sing about the evils present in the world, which manifest in the form of a grotesque creature who stalks the city streets in the new clip.
"'The Devil in Our Wake' tackles the topic of war," comments frontman Nathan Hunt. "I'd go to bed with CNN on to some bullshit at the White House, or the heartbreaking situation in Syria. I'd see what's going on in the world and think, 'Shit, how did we get so divisive?'"
If you're wondering about that cement-cracking wall of low end and thick distortion, it can be attributed to an old school approach. “We used analog effects pedals and vintage amps. It was kind of like trying to find the melting point between Midwest and L.A. It still has the Shaman's Harvest Midwest vibe to it, but it definitely has organic L.A. written all over it," says Hunt.
