Smash Mouth Prove Their Singer + Guy Fieri Aren’t the Same Person
For a lot longer, many have been keen to note the similarities between Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell and celebrity chef / mayor of "Flavortown," Guy Fieri, inferring that they're in fact the same person. But now we we're all the ones who were lookin' kind of dumb because Smash Mouth have put an end to the conspiracy with one photo.
In the split image at the top of the page, you can see the shared likeness between the two as Harwell rocked bleach blonde spiky hair in the early 2000s, which is the signature look of the host of shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Guy's Grocery Games. Below is an image that Smash Mouth tweeted, showing Fieri and Harwell in the same photo, though Harwell now has black hair, distancing the comparison.
In the past, fans had been quick to ask, "Has anyone ever seen the singer from Smash Mouth and Guy Fieri in the same place?"
(Hey) Now, if they could only get Insane Clown Posse's Violent J (pictured below) in the same frame, that would put all the rumors to rest and the Internet could move on to solving more important and concerning mysteries, like how magnets work.
Smash Mouth caught their big break with the song "All Star," which was released in 1999 and featured in the animated film Shrek. In August of last year, Smash Mouth revealed that the Smashing Pumpkins were initially contacted about being featured in the movie, but declined. Smash Mouth also declined, but DreamWorks' persistence wore the band down and they gave in. The band would go on to be forever tied with the Shrek legacy.
