3 Doors Down Bassist Todd Harrell Arrested on DUI Charges in Mississippi
3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell's battles with drink and drugs are continuing. The musician was taken into custody Tuesday (Feb. 18) in D'Iberville, Mississippi after police found him passed out in his vehicle at a street intersection.
TMZ reports that law enforcement officials believe he was under the influence of drugs. Police chief Wayne Payne told the Associated Press, "On arrival our officers made contact with the driver and there were signs of his being impaired. We don't know what the substance is at the time. We sent the sample on to the crime lab for testing." Harrell was charged with a second-offense DUI involving a substance other than alcohol. No date has been announced for Harrell's next court appearance.
Harrell has a previous history with DUI, as he was arrested in 2012 after he failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into a pickup truck. He's also awaiting trial for vehicular homicide by intoxication, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of the implied consent law and possession of contraband charges related to a 2013 fatal car crash in Tennessee. After the fatal car crash in Tennessee last year, Harrell checked himself into a rehab facility. The band eventually replaced Harrell with bassist Justin Biltonen in their touring lineup.
