Casting Call: Who Should Play Metallica in a Movie?
Metallica may have made the documentary 'Some Kind of Monster' and the band may be currently hard at work on their own 3D concert film, but what if a biographical feature film was made about the band's career? There is no doubt that Metallica are metal icons, so the individuals portraying them would have a challenging task at hand. So, who should play the members of Metallica's current lineup? We've got a few suggestions below:
James Hetfield Played by Morgan Spurlock
Who would play James Hetfield, you ask? There are many who would love to play the part, but aesthetically, 'Super Size Me' protagonist Morgan Spurlock bares a striking resemblance to Hetfield. Moreover, Spurlock is 6 foot 2 inches, giving him the height to play Hetfield. While he may have to practice his "Yeeeaahhhh!'s" and "Deathhhh!'s," Spurlock's already got the handlebar mustache ready to go.
Kirk Hammett Played by Troy Polamalu
Kirk Hammett is a legendary guitarist, so we're going to need another legend to man the strings. Metal is all about brutality, so Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu would be a prime choice. Polamalu's aggression on the field could definitely translate to the stage, and his trademark locks mixed with the athlete's 'Head and Shoulders' acting prowess would make Hammett proud. Grow a mustache, Troy!
Rob Trujillo Played by Roman Reigns
There aren't too many humans that have the distinction of resembling Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo. We've searched through the proverbial warehouse of actors, but found no one to work with. Moreover, no mortal actor can match the energy that Trujillo brings to the stage. Luckily, we're believers in 'The Shield.' No, not that television cop drama, the WWE wrestling stable of which strongman Roman Reigns is a member. Not only does Reigns look strikingly similar to Trujillo, he possesses the physical strength to pull off the bassist's athletic prowess onstage.
Lars Ulrich Played by Michael Pitt
Perhaps the toughest member of Metallica to cast, Lars Ulrich needs a seasoned professional to embody his complex and controversial personality. When we picture an actor manning the drums, making priceless faces, screaming at other band members and taking on Napster, the name that jumps to mind is 'Boardwalk Empire' actor Michael Pitt. The thespian already portrayed a Kurt Cobain like character in the film 'Last Days,' so the role of a rock star should come naturally to him.
