Cattle Decapitation Debut ‘One Day Closer to the End of the World’
Cattle Decapitation have finally unfurled the first Death Atlas single, "One Day Closer to the End of the World." Check out the apocalyptic death-grind track toward the bottom of the page.
Once again hedging their bets against humanity in the dice throw that is our collective future, Cattle Decap make no attempts to veil their message. The title is self-evident and, musically, it's another diverse spread from the group who continues to push the genre forward. "One Day Closer to the End of the World" moves into a cinematic realm with its fusion of chunky death metal riffs and nightmarish black metal while singer Travis Ryan refines his quirky clean voice into a Bobby Blitz (Overkill) type croon.
"The core concept of this record is humanity's insignificance despite what we've convinced ourselves," stated Ryan. "That's kind of why this album cover takes place in space, to remind you that 'the universe always finds a way to purge'. In the grand scheme of things, our species is merely a fleeting thought."
Regarding the band's subject matter, the singer declared, "I want people to be shocked into thinking more about their futures, their loved ones, the pain they're potentially subjecting their future generations to. Everyone just seems to live in the now with no care for tomorrow, and that's incorrect thinking, as far as today goes. Don't make tomorrow a cancelled check."
Death Atlas, the eighth Cattle Decapitation album, will be released on Nov. 29 through Metal Blade. Pre-order your copy here and view the band's upcoming North American tour dates below.
