Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Jim Root have already dabbled a bit with the idea of a concept record with Stone Sour's House of Gold and Bones double-disc release, but it looks like Slipknot are now toying with the idea of doing something on a grand scale for their next release.

Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan recently floated the idea during an interview with the BBC that he would like to record a double concept album similar to what Pink Floyd did with The Wall or the Beatles did with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, incorporating a movie to go along with it.

Now Taylor has discussed the idea even further in an interview with Albany Q103 host Flounder. In the audio chat, which can be heard below (yes, it has video of cats), Taylor states, "We're talking about it. [Crahan] and I and Jim have been talking about what would be next. And the idea that we had was to kind of come up with the concept and then provide the soundtrack for it. But then I told them the other day ... I was, like, 'Let's take it even further and let's make our Purple Rain [like Prince], let's make our Pink Floyd The Wall ... with a movie -- not just the album, but do the movie ... like, do everything. And they were pretty into it."

The vocalist admits that his bandmates were into the idea, but it still may be some time before they would approach it. "It's gonna be a few years before we even get into that," says Taylor. "But just the fact that we're laying the steps for it now just means that we're right back to where we were, which is just being five steps ahead of the game."

Taylor has previously stated that the band will take a couple of years off before approaching their next album, which falls in line with what they've done in the past to allow for breaks and time to pursue outside projects. The singer's other band, Stone Sour, is in the midst of releasing a series of covers EPs, with a couple more releases expected soon.
