Eagles of Death Metal Drummer’s Kit From Paris’ Le Bataclan Show Returned and Repaired
Last November, Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Dorio was onstage playing with his bandmates at Le Bataclan in Paris when terrorists burst in and started shooting, killing 89 people. In an Instagram post, Dorio revealed that his drum kit from that show has been repaired by C&C Drums and returned to him.
He writes, "There was a time when I never wanted to see it again but I just couldn't let this instrument be thrown away. If salvageable, it should be used to bring people together, create new music and hopefully add some joy to the world."
Dorio says the details of the drum set's condition "are too heavy to share," but he did reveal there was a bullet hole in the kick drum. It was even blessed with holy water by a priest before it was shipped to him.
"I'm very proud to be its custodian but these drums belong to the inspiring people of France and all of the victims who've had the courage to march on," he says. "With these drums we'll turn bad into good and create something positive. Can't wait to have them back onstage soon."
Eagles of Death Metal return to the road tonight, kicking off a tour in Vancouver, British Columbia. They'll be playing North American shows through July, then head to Europe in August.
