Testament have been ripping it up with Slayer on their farewell tour this year and are targeting 2019 for the release of their 12th studio album. You'll only have to wait until September 7 to get some new music from guitarist Alex Skolnick as his jazz trio, the Alex Skolnick Trio, are set to release their new record, Conundrum. Hear the first track, "Culture Shock," above.

"It represents the sense of confusion many of us are feeling in the midst of the strangest sociopolitical upheavals of our lifetimes," Skolnick says of the album's title. "This album captures many styles in an effort to channel that angst into art and inspire others to do likewise," he added.

Conundrum is comprised of nine songs, six of which were composed by the Testament axeman, while bassist Nathan Peck and drummer Matt Zebroski penned one apiece. Among the tracks (see the track listing and artwork below) is an interpretation of French composer Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1."

The Trio have a handful of tour dates coming up, which can also be seen below, and to catch Skolnick on the road with Testament on Slayer's second North American leg of their farewell run, head here.
