What could have been! To the angst of many hard rock and metal fans, Metallica's performance at the Grammys with Lady Gaga was marred by a technical difficulty as James Hetfield's mic didn't work for a good portion of the performance. The highly hyped performance featuring two of music's heavyweights was supposed to be one of the crowning jewels of Grammy night, but instead made headlines for all the wrong reasons. It's rare in life that you get a do-over (unless you're Adele), but we may have one.

In the video above, the Romanian Metallica Fan Club RoLoad reports that a "web feed was fine. Only the TV broadcast had problems for some reason." However, there does appear to be some question in the comments of the post on whether the RoLoad explanation is legit, even though they point to the web rip of the performance on torrents.

There was a report Monday that a stagehand was to blame for Hetfield's mic not being turned on, explaining that a plug underneath the stage accidentally got unplugged. But the Grammys have not commented on the report.

While Metallica's performance with Gaga is done, the band does have plenty of touring left to do in 2017. The band released dates for the North American leg of the WorldWired tour earlier this week. See all of their scheduled shows here.
