In Flames Unveil Second Part of Gamer Narrative in ‘The Truth’ Music Video
Swedish melodic metal legends In Flames are set to drop Battles, their 12th full length effort on Nov. 11 and have already released a pair of anthemic singles off the disc. The music video for "The Truth" thematically continues where "The End" left off, ramping up the video game narrative as seen in the video above.
Over the course of "The End" (video below), fans were treated to a video depicting a first person shooter video game mixed with clips of technology-obsessed youth. In "The Truth," the story gets serious as a young boy sits behind two computer monitors toiling away at a video game. Unbeknownst to him, a group tracks his location on a smartphone, sneaking behind him and cutting off his senses as they cover his head and abduct him.
Strapped into a chair, the group monitors his brain activity in an attempt to deprogram him. Later, the group happens upon a kid playing the solo to the song in a room blanketed with In Flames posters and memorabilia. The group excuses themselves after the interruption and are then seen placing something around the neck of the abducted boy before exiting the secret lair.
Pre-orders for Battles can be placed through the In Flames webshop with plenty of bundle options to choose from or digitally through iTunes. All digital pre-orders will come with instant gratification downloads of both "The Truth" and "The End."
In Flames recently announced they've recruited ex-RED drummer Joe Rickard as their new skinsman. The upcoming co-headlining trek with Hellyeah will be his first tour with the group, which will launch on Nov. 14. For a full list of stops, head to our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
