Report: Manowar Guitarist Karl Logan Jailed on Child Pornography Charges
Longtime Manowar guitarist Karl Logan was booked into jail on child pornography charges in Charlotte, North Carolina, Tuesday (May 28), according to information obtained by Blabbermouth and court records published by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Logan is no longer performing with the power metal icons after his arrest last August, the result of six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Appearing in court on Tuesday, Logan was ordered to be detained until his next hearing by a federal magistrate judge. He was booked at 6:47PM ET that evening, and the follow-up hearing could happen as soon as Thursday (May 30). Reportedly, the veteran Manowar member has not formally entered a plea in the case.
However, Logan's attorney, Brad Smith, told Charlotte's WSOC-TV Channel 9 that the musician has been "extremely cooperative with the investigation from the beginning, and he'll continue to do that." Watch the video below.
Following the musician's 2018 arrest, Manowar released a statement indicating the incident would not affect the group's plans. "Due to the fact that Karl and his attorneys are dealing with these issues, he will not perform with Manowar," the band said. "The new album and upcoming tour will not be affected."
Prior to Tuesday, Logan was out of jail awaiting his first appearance before a judge.
The guitarist joined Manowar in 1994, replacing David Shankle, who had been with the outfit since 1989. Logan's recording debut with the band came in 1996 with the release of Louder Than Hell, and he's been on every album since, totaling four studio efforts, not including two albums re-recorded prior to his tenure.
