The recent love affair between cartoons and metal has been a passionate one. The seemingly separate worlds most notably collided in 2006 in the animated series 'Metalocalypse,' which went on to become a worldwide phenomenon and a staple show for Cartoon Network. It seems like the metal gods are far from finished with the cartoon world, as Mastodon bassist-vocalist Troy Sanders recently revealed that the progressive metal band and 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' have decided to team up for what is sure to be a brutally funny collaboration.

Sanders discussed Mastodon's involvement with 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' in a recent interview with myYearbook. “Yes, we’re actually going to be involved in an upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode. That’s always fun to do, it’s always a unique opportunity to go in and do music and voice-overs. It’s such a fun way to do something that is Mastodon-ish but also unexpected," stated Sanders. "We’re very fortunate that the Adult Swim family has embraced Mastodon and has tried to include us on many things. We hope to have more opportunities like that because it’s such a great experience.”"

This won't be the first time Mastodon and 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' have teamed up. In 2007, Mastodon helped create a heavy metal parody of the classic 'Let's All Go to the Lobby' movie theater jingle for 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters.'

There is no word yet on whether Mastodon will appear in the episode as themselves, but it's a definite possibility, with rock legends such as Glenn Danzig and Zakk Wylde having both played themselves on past 'Aqua Teen' episodes.
