Did you know Megadeth's Dave Mustaine once rocked "The Star-Spangled Banner" on his trusty '90s King V guitar during a celebrity softball game on MTV?

A video of a recording that captured the moment is a little grainy, but the power of the patriotic performance still shines through.

Mustaine's rendition of the U.S. national anthem opened MTV's Fourth Annual Rock N' Jock Softball Challenge when it aired back in 1994. Yet the performance was filmed in January 1993 during the game between the "Homeboys" (which included Bon Jovi members plus Anthrax's Scott Ian at right-center field) and Mustaine's team, the "Awayboys" (featuring none other than outfielder Bret Michaels).

The Megadeth frontman was somewhat of a frequent guest at the annual MTV Sports event in the '90s. He also turned up at the Fifth Annual Rock N' Jock Softball Challenge. During that match, Mustaine teamed with actors David Duchovny and Saved by the Bell's Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

Mustaine again tackled the anthem famously made a guitar instrumental by Jimi Hendrix when the Megadeth frontman covered the classic version for the soundtrack of the political documentary America.

Watch the Megadeth frontman shred it at Rock N' Jock below.
