Longtime Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell has teamed up with Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford for the new track, “Straight Up.” The no-frills rock track is from Campbell’s debut solo album, which came out today (Oct. 25).

Campbell’s new album is filled with guest spots from legendary musicians like Alice Cooper, Dee Snider, Joe Satriani and more. "I couldn't believe the incredible players that spent some time on the record for me. I'm the luckiest guy in the world in that respect,” Campbell says. “Mega talent all the way through it, helping me out when I needed help. I've got no complaints whatsoever... Everyone did a fantastic job.”

Halford’s unmistakable voice fills “Straight Up” from beginning to end, while Campbell keeps the song driving forward with a tone not far from classic Motorhead material. "'The Metal God' Rob Halford has always been an artist I admire. His distinctive vocals and stage presence have rocked millions of fans all over the world, so I count myself blessed to have written a rockin' song together with him!” Campbell raves.

Campbell’s solo record has been a desire for the guitarist for two decades. Having begun the writing process shortly after Lemmy Kilmister’s death, Old Lions Still Roar features ideas old and new. “Since Motorhead, sadly, finished, I've had more time to think about [it] and to knuckle down and everything. I probably started the first recording of it about two and a half, three years ago. I wanted to make an album where I branched out a little bit. I've had some of the ideas — one or two of them — for, like, 10 or 12 years, and some not so long. Some are brand new.”

Both Campbell and Halford have been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020 class. Campbell wasn't originally included in Motorhead's nomination, nor was drummer Mikkey Dee, but fan outrage about the snub changed the Rock Hall's minds.
