This past weekend, Massachusetts metal heroes Shadows Fall knocked off the rust and came out of hiatus mode, playing three shows in New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Vocalist Brian Fair and bassist Paul Romanko started families and made that the priority. Jon Donais was asked to join Anthrax. Jason Bittner is currently playing drums with Flotsam And Jetsam. Matt Blanchard started Manshark Entertainment management company and has joined the new project Act of Defiance.

Saturday night (Aug. 22) at the Fete nightclub in Providence, R.I., Shadows Fall headlined the Big Kahuna festival. The band's setlist was extensive and covered their entire career. Some of the highlights included "The Power of I and I," "What Drives the Weak," "Redemption" and "Inspiration on Demand."

As expected, the place was packed for what is now the rare appearance of the veteran rock band. And rest assured that Shadows Fall did not disappoint. For everything they were giving, the audience responded in kind with a full frenzy during the show. Fans were stage diving and having a blast and had no idea what hit them.

After the performances, Bittner posted via the band's Facebook page, "A long and great weekend dusting off the rust with the Shadows Fall family!! MAJOR thanks to all of our fans, friends, family and crew who made this last weekend very special for us," before adding, "Who knows when this will happen again, but in the meantime please check out the new Anthrax, Act of Defiance, and Flotsam and Jetsam records in late 2015/early 2016."
