The parade of songs continues for Billy Corgan and company as the Smashing Pumpkins have just unveiled the fourth new track from their 'Monuments to an Elegy' disc. This time, it's 'Drum and Fife,' and the title is a very solid description of what makes the song stand out.

The track starts off with the whispery strains of a fife blowing in the distance, before a cadence-like drum track begins to filter in. Add in some guitar, and the song slowly begins to build in intensity as Corgan sings about banging "this drum to my dying day." Check out the song, along with some awesome single artwork featuring a young Billy Corgan, in the player provided above.

'Drum and Fife' follows on the heels of a trio of other 'Monuments to an Elegy' songs. The alternative-leaning single 'Being Beige' kicked things off, while the hard-hitting 'One and All' and 'Tiberius' followed. If you like what you hear so far, Smashing Pumpkins' 'Monuments to an Elegy' disc drops Dec. 9 and is currently available for pre-order at Amazon and iTunes.

In other Smashing Pumpkins news, the band has just added another show for their newly reconfigured lineup. Fans in San Francisco will be able to catch the band at The Warfield on Dec. 11. To check out more of their tour dates, click the button below.
