New-school Canadian heavy metal band 3 Inches of Blood have unveiled the details for their fifth studio album, 'Long Live Heavy Metal,' scheduled for release on March 27. The band promise a full-on assault of pure heavy metal on the disc.

Formed in 2000, 3 Inches of Blood have released a steady stream of fresh music heavily influenced by '70s and '80s British heavy metal bands. 3 Inches of Blood received much praise and attention after their breakout 2004 album 'Advance and Vanquish,' featuring the wailing single 'Deadly Sinners.'

Coming into their 12th year as a band, 3 Inches of Blood plan to make their mark with their new album. "'Long Live Heavy Metal' is the fifth chapter in the book of 3 Inches Of Blood, and we couldn't be more pleased and proud of our new onslaught of honest heavy metal," said guitarist Justin Hagberg in a press release.

Vocalist Cam Pipes also shared his excitement for 'Long Live Heavy Metal,' as well as the claim that it is their best yet:

When a band is releasing a new record, they often speak about it being their most important work or best album to date. Regardless of how clichéd either statement may sound, I think we would say both apply to this album. All of us have a special feeling about this one. We're more committed than ever to the cause of real, honest, no bulls--- heavy metal. No trends, no f---ing around!

March will be a busy month for 3 Inches of Blood. In addition to releasing 'Long Live Heavy Metal,' the band will be hitting the road on the 2012 Metal Alliance Tour along with DevilDriver, the Faceless, Dying Fetus, Job for a Cowboy and Impending Doom.
