When KISS' Gene Simmons declared "rock is finally dead" back in early September, nobody could have predicted the rock and metal world would still be talking about it two and a half months later. Countless musicians have responded to the claim, mostly to defend the honor of rock, and now AC/DC members Angus Young and Brian Johnson have offered their opinions.

If any band has the right to lead the pro-rock cavalry, it's AC/DC. The legendary band is rock 'n' roll in its purest form and in a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Angus and Brian weigh in on the "rock is dead" argument.

"It's been a long, long, long funeral, then," Angus Young responded right before Brian Johnson gave a lengthier response, where he aimed his words directly at Gene Simmons. You'll have to watch above to see his powerful retort.

The duo also offered some encouraging advice to young musicians forming bands. Watch the interview with Angus Young and Brian Johnson in the video above. AC/DC's 'Rock or Bust' album is scheduled for a Dec. 2 release. To pre-order the disc, click here.
