For those wanting heavy music to get more of a spotlight, a new series is starting up that will put some key players on the small screen. Sounds of the Underground TV started last night on select CBS stations across the nation, and we've got the online premiere featuring August Burns Red, Halifax and badxchannels (aka Craig Owens) right here.

August Burns Red serve as the featured artist on the episode, and Jake Luhrs tells us, “JB and I had fun sitting down with Sounds of the Underground TV before our sold out show at the House of Blues in Anaheim. It was one of our favorite shows of the tour and we’re grateful SOTU was there to capture the night.”

The episode features an interview segment, touching on such topics as the band's Constellations 10th anniversary tour and the Heart Support charitable organization, while also showcasing some of their performance including a blistering performance of "White Washed."

Sounds of the Underground aims to help up-and-coming artists while showcasing them along with a major artist within rock and metal. Johnny Zirkel developed the series, and also serves as host for the episodes, chatting with the acts.

“Not one artist on Sounds of the Underground had to do anything other than be talented and driven to be on the show,” Zirkel told Alternative Press for the series' official announcement. “They didn’t have to pay anything or sell tickets or win a contest or have a crazy number of followers or have a label. They just had to be talented and driven.”

In addition to the aforementioned August Burns Red, Halifax and badxchannels, other acts expected to appear include Frank Iero, Emarosa, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Wildfires Projekt and Sleeptalk among more.

Fans of the acts performing and the show will also want to check out an Indiegogo page where there will also be items available including signed instruments, limited edition merchandise and even a chance to co-host and episode with Zirkel. Head here for more info.

Among the cities airing Sounds of the Underground on their CBS affiliates include Boston, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles, with the latter even launching a landing page here. Episodes will air on Thursdays, and you can check local listings for times. Look for all episodes streaming on YouTube the following Saturday at 10AM ET.
