As the metal world now knows, the four original members of Black Sabbath gathered yesterday to announce their return. Making the announcement at exactly 11:11:11 on 11/11/11 on VH1’s National Metal Day was not lost on anyone, ensuring the day will go down in history.

Singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tonny Iommi, drummer Bill Ward and bass player Geezer Butler gathered at the infamous Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, Calif. on the legendary Sunset Strip to share the good news along with special host Henry Rollins introducing the press conference. The band not only confirmed the anticipated reunion but also announced a world tour kicking off at the Download Festival in June of 2012 in England as well as a new album.

So why now? Iommi summed it up perfectly, saying, “It's now or never. We are getting along great. Everything's really good. We know that this time it’s going to happen.”

Osbourne weighed in on the new music falling into place, “It’s just time. This time, for some magical reason, we have written about seven or eight songs so far and they’re really good.” With new songs already in the works the new album is slated for the fall of 2012 and will be produced by Rick Rubin. Geezer Butler described the sound of the new songs as "back to the old Sabbath style and sound.’

On their hopes for the reunion, Iommi said, “It’s just great to be back together and to be able to play.” Amen to that!
