Evanescence Rock ‘Purple Rain’ in Honor of Prince in Orlando
The world was recently shaken by the surprise sudden death of Prince. Shortly after his death, the far-reaching appeal of the music legend was seen by the amazing outpouring of love from artists from all genres. While it started with messages via social media, the tributes have turned musical with many acts taking on Prince songs in their shows as a nod of respect. Evanescence are the latest to show their love for Prince, recently performing "Purple Rain" during their Orlando stop.
As seen in the fan-shot videos above and below, singer Amy Lee chose to use the piano as the lead instrument in performing the classic. What follows is a touching tribute that once again showcases the power of Lee's voice.
Shortly after Prince's passing, Lee signed into her Twitter account to voice how heartbroken she was that the singer was gone. Her tweet can be read below.
Lee isn't the only Evanescence member to pay her respects to Prince, as guitarist Jen Majura posted a video tribute not long after the news was revealed, also taking on "Purple Rain." You can watch that here.
Prince died unexpectedly at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park estate. The official cause of death has yet to be revealed.
