Godsmack singer Sully Erna will be filming his solo performance at the Wilbur Theater in Boston on Dec. 16. The reason he is documenting the occasion? He will release a 3D DVD of the show sometime in the future. Erna plans to lead an eight-piece ensemble as they play his debut solo effort 'Avalon' from start to finish.

So if you are holed up in Beantown next month, we highly suggest that you head out to the this show, since it's going to be a one-of-a-kind performance. You never know -- you might end up on camera, too.

Erna issued a statement regarding the show, intimating that the production would be rather epic and would include "a world of beautiful scenery, world cultures and amazing cinematic visuals that will leave you breathless at times." While that doesn't sound like what you'd expect at a Godsmack show, remember this is Sully solo and things are quite artistically different. Having your breath taken away is always a good thing at a concert, regardless of the genre. We expect Sully Erna to make good on his promise.

In addition to filming the show, Erna will donate a portion of proceeds earned from the show to Global Adolescent Project, which is a non-profit that focuses on serving the youth of Haiti.

'Avalon' was released in Sept. 2010.

In other Sully Erna news, the singer will appear on the Dec. 17 episode of VH1 Classic's 'That Metal Show,' so be sure and tune in.
