As Godsmack gear up to spend the next few months out on the road with their local New England brothers in Staind on their co-headlining Mass Chaos tour (with Halestorm providing support), Godsmack frontman Sully Erna recently shared some details on the band’s upcoming live album.

The album, that we now know is dubbed ‘Live and Inspired,’ is the band’s first live album to date. Due out this spring, it includes 13 of the band’s favorite live songs. All of the songs featured were recorded at a show in Detroit, Mich. on the band’s last tour. Erna told Loudwire, “It’s a live record from Detroit Rock City that we thought was an exceptional show for us. We had a really good show; we were recording a lot on that tour.”

Even though the band was recording many shows, for some reason, this show stood out. “We were going to do a compilation with this song from Vegas, this song is from Chicago, this one is from Dallas, but I don’t know, the more we listened to the Detroit show, the more we kind of figured out that it was a really good show for us,” said Erna.

While the city of Detroit may have its share of detractors, Godsmack have nothing but love for the city. Sully explained, “It’s always a great audience, as any rock band will tell you. Playing there is a special kind of fanbase that they have there, they live up to their reputation. They’re a great rock audience, so that’s where the record was recorded.”

The live album will also have a bonus disc of four cover tunes. We tried to get Sully to throw us a bone and tell us what songs would be featured but we couldn’t get him to talk, “I’m not saying anything, you have to wait. They’re all good ones though!”

We would expect nothing less! Catch Godsmack out on the Mass Chaos tour when they hit your city; check out all the dates here.
