Guns N' Roses have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. Joining GN'R on the list of 2012 nominees are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys and other acts. The ceremony will take place April 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.

“The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “From vocal groups to hip hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

If Guns N' Roses are indeed inducted, it will interesting to see if the original lineup of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler share the stage together in any capacity. Currently, Rose is the only original member remaining in Guns N' Roses.

This isn't the first rodeo for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys. Both acts have been nominated before, but didn't make the cut in years past. Artists are eligible for induction into the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first single or album.

Also nominated for 2012 induction are the Cure, Heart and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, among others. Traditionally, five acts are selected by a panel of 500-plus voters for induction each year.

Music fans are being encouraged to vote for their favorite acts in a poll on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame official website. See the full list of 2012 nominees below.
