Legendary Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has formed a new musical project, Sons of Chipotle. Jones has teamed up with Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen for the group, and they’ve announced two September shows in Japan.

After a period of relative silence, minus an experimental show with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore earlier this year, Jones will hit the stage once again this summer. Sons of Chipotle, which promises to visit “an uncommonly vast area of the musical map,” will play the famous Pit Inn in Shinjuku, Tokyo on Sept. 3 and 5.

“When they improvise, borders disappear, they are free to migrate beyond prejudices, across continents,” a description of the band reads. “In a world where walls are being built and people are told where they cannot go, Sons of Chipotle want music to be a place of openness.”

John Paul Jones famously performed on Them Crooked Vultures’ self-titled debut in 2009 and two albums with Seasick Steve in the 2010s. Karttunen has played with world-class orchestras from around the globe. Japanese and American musicians Otomo Yoshihide and Jim O’Rourke, respectively, will join Sons of Chipotle for both shows.

Tickets for the performances go on sale July 28 at 10AM Japan time.
