Marilyn Manson's theatrical stage persona has served him quite well when it comes to acting on the big and small screen as well. According to Deadline, Manson has just added another role to his resume, taking on a four-episode stint in the third season of Starz' American Gods series.

Manson will portray Johan Wengren, the bloodthirsty singer of a Viking death metal band named Blood Death. Within the series, Wengren and his group serve as a source of power for Ian MacShane's Mr. Wednesday in his war with the New Gods.

“As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson in Season 3 of American Gods,” showrunner Chic Eglee said of the new addition to the cast.

“Bringing his specific energy, wit and boundless enthusiasm for all-things-Neil Gaiman to the role of Johan, a Norse ‘berserker’ in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original and uniquely entertaining,” Eglee added.

The third season will arrive in 2020. Fans can also look for Manson having a role in HBO's upcoming series The New Pope as well. Manson also has a new album in the works, but no official release details have been announced.
