Megadeth in the Studio Working on New Material
According to a new Facebook post from bassist David Ellefson (see below), Megadeth are working on material for their next album. He also posted photos of himself and frontman Dave Mustaine in the studio.
Ellefson reports, "Dave and I are in the studio this week in California working up some of the new riffs. We're having fun, just throwing it down and keeping it chill. These are essentially writing demos at this point so just grinding out the tunes like a metal band should. More to come...."
The band's last album, 'Super Collider,' was released just over a year ago. It debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart, their highest charting album since 1994's 'Youthanasia' went to No. 4.
Megadeth return to the road for the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Canada, on Friday (June 20). They recently canceled several dates following the death of Ellefson's brother, who passed away in May after battling cancer.
After Friday's show, Megadeth have a few weeks of downtime where they could continue working on the album. Beginning in mid-July they have a few North American shows, then head overseas for gigs that include several festivals, including Wacken and Bloodstock. For all the dates, go here.
