The core of Metal Allegiance recently dropped by our studio to chat about their debut self-titled album and their favorite collaborators on the record. The album is filled with phenomenal cameos, but we wanted to know who their dream collaborations would be if they could work with anyone living or dead.

David Ellefson, Mike Portnoy, Alex Skolnick and Mark Menghi all had great answers to our question, but two of them happened to pick the same metal hero, late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. The great Ronnie James Dio was also brought up, which makes sense since Metal Allegiance covered the Dio classic "We Rock" on their self-titled record.

Various living musicians were named as well, such as Metallica's James Hetfield. Mike Portnoy even pointed out that Metallica is perhaps the only massive second-generation metal band not to have taken part in Metal Allegiance throughout the years, extending the invite for any of the guys to come join the party.

Metal Allegiance also revealed that they asked former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing to drop by, but things didn't quite work out.
