For March Metal Madness this year, we're trying to find the greatest metal album of the 21st Century. In this first battle within the Headbanger Region, one of history's most purely powerful acts face down one of modern metal's most solid bands.

As a new millennium was just beginning, Pantera revealed a classic album that would become the group's parting shot. With perhaps the crunchiest tone 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott ever unleashed, 'Reinventing the Steel' brought gems such as 'Goddamn Electric,' 'Revolution is My Name' and eight other Pantera powerhouse tracks.

'The Art of Balance' speaks for itself. The record didn't only score Shadows Fall a high chart position, but expanded the idea of what a metalcore / death metal band could accomplish creatively. Interwoven with thrash, rock and softer nuances, 'The Art of Balance' succeeded artistically and spiritually, finding further balance through meditative and yoga-based themes.

Pantera's 'Reinventing the Steel' or Shadows Fall's 'The Art of Balance'? Vote for your favorite 21st Century album in the poll below!

(This poll will end on Sunday, March 9 at 11:59 PM ET. Fans are able to vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure your favorite album wins!)
