Last night (Sept. 12) at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, N.Y., the second ever ‘Metal Masters Clinic’ went down. As previously reported the free event featured a star-studded cast comprised mostly of players from the upcoming ‘Big 4’ show scheduled for Wednesday,  Sept. 14, at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. The clinic highlighted the chops of Scott Ian, Charlie Benante and Frank Bello of Anthrax, along with David Ellefson of Megadeth, Kerry King of Slayer and ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.

While fans undoubtedly were served up a metal feast for the ages, there was another special surprise that no one could have predicted. Legendary metal singer Phil Anselmo (of Down and Pantera fame) joined the all-star crew on stage to perform the two Pantera classics, ‘A New Level' and ‘F---ing Hostile.' Check out videos from the performances below.

Anselmo took to the stage as fans welcomed him with a chant of 'Phil, Phil, Phil.' Fans are currently weighing in on the collaboration with feedback like “..this is what a Big 4 jam should be instead of safe covers Metallica has been playing for years. I mean, look at that line-up!” and “Phil is the most bad-ass metal vocalist ever!”

Were you lucky enough to be at this event? If not, do you wish you were there?
