May 16, 2015, marks the fifth anniversary of legendary vocalist Ronnie James Dio‘s passing. To pay tribute to Ronnie and his contributions to the metal scene, we sat down with a bunch of today’s biggest names and invited them to share stories and thoughts about Ronnie James Dio.

In this clip, Full Metal Jackie chats with Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta about the metal legend, and though Hatebreed and Dio seemingly come from opposite sides of the heavy spectrum, the common ground described by Jasta is truly interesting.

Hatebreed actually toured with Dio in Mexico and Japan many years ago, while Jasta himself has interviewed Ronnie on two occasions. After an unpleasant experience with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, Jamey Jasta was actually given much comfort from Dio afterward, further documenting the heavy metal icon's kind heart.

Jasta, like other artists interviewed for our 'Remembering Ronnie James Dio' series, also speaks of Ronnie's incredible memory, recalling a story about guitarist Frank Novinec.
