John 5’s new solo CD, ‘God Told Me To,’ is set for an April 10 release, and the newly revealed cover art (see it below) was painted by Rob Zombie. The painting depicts a menacing looking head shot of  John 5 with his signature number bleeding down his forehead. The title of the album is painted in blood red as well, creating a macabre portrait of the guitarist.

John 5 and Rob Zombie have some history. John 5 has played as a member of Rob Zombie’s band since 2005, so it’s not surprising to see an original piece of Rob Zombie art used as the cover. Zombie has also tapped John 5 to score the soundtrack for his upcoming horror film 'Lords of Salem.'

John 5 has described his solo release ‘God Told Me To’ as “half acoustic and half metal" saying it will "feature music that will blow you away.” It also includes his cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It.’

In related news, Rob Zombie will be participating in the 2012 Rock on the Range festival as one of the headlining acts. Find out more about the 2012 Rock on the Range here.
