Sabaton Debut Video for ‘The Great War’ Title Track
Sabaton's new album won't be out until July, but you can get another taste of what's to come on The Great War as the power metal battalion has just unveiled a video for the title track, chronicling the majesty of their live performance.
"The Great War" reverses gears from the speedier singles which were previously released — "Fields of Verdun" and "The Red Baron" — instead trudging forward with a mid-tempo, chugging gallop and bombastic symphonic moments.
In the video, Sabaton string together thrilling live clips from their mesmerizing stage show, which includes a full choir dressed in old war uniforms. Fireballs race toward the sky simulating battle explosions on a stage lined with sandbags, barbed wire and a drum riser tank, which should have any fan excited about their upcoming North American tour with Hammerfall. See those dates beneath the music video.
"The title of our new magnum opus is The Great War, and within its rich musical and lyrical journey, we dive into the gloomy and bloody atmosphere of World War I," bassist Pär Sundström said of Sabaton's ninth full length. "This frantic war shook the whole planet during 1914-1918 and caused devastating consequences that still echo to this day. World War I was also supposed to be the war to end all the wars. Well, today, we unfortunately know little bit better..."
Continuing, he added, "The contrast between the brutality of merciless war and heroic sacrifices made by humans of many kind is reflected on seminal tracks – both on compositions and lyrics."
The Great War will be released on July 19 through Nuclear Blast. Get your copy here.
