Shadows Fall will spend October hitting the studio to record their next album. The Massachusetts metal mavens are reportedly eyeing an early 2012 release, and dreadlocked singer Brian Fair told us (and his Twitter followers) some details about the band's plans via a Tweet about the matter.

Fair Tweeted a brief update, writing: "Lots going on in Oct. @ShadowsFallBand will be in studio. Lots of live vids and more that will be announced via twitter and Facebook." It was only a short update with the promise of more digital content in the future so it's certainly enough to get fans excited about the return of one of the biggest bands of the New American Metal renaissance of the early '00s.

Shadows Fall last released a studio album in Sept. 2009. It was called 'Retribution' and the album was released via their own imprint label under the Warner Bros./ILG umbrella.

While Shadows Fall have been somewhat inactive in between albums, guitarist Matt Bachand actually kept busy by playing bass in Times of Grace while the band toured this summer.
