ShipRocked 2015: Chevelle, Zakk Wylde, Wilson and Sevendust Rock Super Bowl Party
While most people watched the Super Bowl with family and friends in the comfort of their own homes or at local bars, hundreds of rock and metal fans boarded ShipRocked's Norwegian Pearl to catch this year’s big game, eat some damn good food and see some incredible performances.
Chevelle kicked off the day as the first band up, with an awesome performance before the game started. The trio rocked out on the Deck stage right in the middle of the ship. The band cranked out favorites old and new such as ‘Hats Off to the Bull,’ ‘The Red,’ ‘Send the Pain Below’ and ‘Face to the Floor.’ This would be the first and only time that fans could catch Chevelle on the boat since they were special guests only for the Super Bowl show and didn't set sail with the rest of the bands on ShipRocked.
Afterward ShipRockers enjoyed watching the Super Bowl on big screens on the deck or in various lounges all over the boat.
Although regular half-time featured Katy Perry, when that time came, screens were switched off and Wilson blasted onto the stage. Frontman Chad Nicefield came out marching band style with a huge drum and the outfit to match. For one song, the band was also backed by a group of lovely cheerleaders onstage.
It really wouldn’t be ShipRocked without Sevendust would it now? The band played the first of THREE sets on ShipRocked. The cruise vets had fans swarm the deck as they performed a hard-hitting set with favorites such as ‘Waffle’ Denial,’ ‘Praise,’ ‘Enemy’ and numerous others. Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon is known for getting up close and personal with fans. Sevendust continuously gets praise for their kind and humble attitude and infectious personalities both on and off stage.
With a belly full of burgers, hot dogs and wings, a sore neck and hoarse voice the cruise was off to a great start…and to think that was the pre-party to the real party!
