Synyster Gates Wants to Re-Release The Rev’s Pre-Avenged Sevenfold Songs
Avenged Sevenfold's Synyster Gates wants to remaster songs by an early band he was in with The Rev, Pinkly Smooth.
In a livestream with Rick Beato on Jan. 22, Gates went into detail about Unfortunate Snort, an album by his pre-Avenged Sevenfold band with The Rev. "It was just this crazy, clown-goblin metal, Danny Elfman-influenced stuff and it was so fun," says the guitarist. "I can't find the masters. I hear that there's actually an ugly rumor that some have surfaced, and if I can find those then I'm going to remaster it and give it to you guys." See the interview below.
Gates also told Ultimate-Guitar in a June 2018 interview that he is very interested in jazz and classical music and would like to experiment with the styles himself. He confirmed his plans to eventually record a jazz solo album, but did not specify when he would get around to it.
Avenged Sevenfold's 2018 came to a close early after M. Shadows was ordered to vocal rest ahead of their summer tour. However, that break allowed the band's members to start working ahead on new music. Gates told Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez last September, "We’re definitely working on stuff and I’m really excited about the stuff that we’re working on. We’re not full, in the throes, shoulder to shoulder writing music yet but we’re exchanging ideas and hanging and we’re very much interested … in the brainstorming aspect, the meeting of the minds kind of thing that we do before we write a record."
