If you're a true metal fan, a must-read for you this year is 'The Merciless Book of Metal Lists.' Penned by co-authors Howie Abrams and Sacha Jenkins, the book provides an interesting source of debate as it provides list after entertaining list based on metal's history. A number of rock's top names have lent their contributions to the book and placed their stamp of approval. One of those rockers supporting the book is Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera, who offers his comments in the exclusive video below.

"It's great and one of the chapters that I just saw that I really liked was the 10 Hardcore Punk Albums That Shaped Thrash Metal," explained Cavalera, who also fronted Sepultura for more than a decade. "It has a lot to do with me, Sepultura, Nailbomb and everything I did in the early '80s. And some of the albums mentioned here are some of my favorite records."

The description for the book states, "You want to know which Metal albums 'jumped the shark'? Curious to know what non-Metal bands Metalheads love, which album covers feature goats, embarrassing Metal fashion faux pas, and the unfortunate original names Metal bands started with? This is the book. In addition to some highly opinionated lists, this energetically designed volume features quotes, short essays, iconic four-color photography, and contributions from notable metal personalities."

The book includes a foreword from Slayer guitarist Kerry King, while Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo penned the afterword. Anthrax's Scott Ian, Exodus' Gary Holt and Raven's John Gallagher are just a few of the other rockers who have lent their contributions to the book as well.

'The Merciless Book of Metal Lists' is currently available via Amazon and can be ordered here.
