Of all the Motley Crue members, drummer Tommy Lee has taken the biggest leaps beyond the rock spectrum for his solo work, and it looks like that will continue on a new album he's tentatively titling Trans Genres.

Lee told Billboard the title fits because "one side is all female energy and the other side of the record is all male," adding, "It's very eclectic, and I think everyone's gonna really enjoy it. That's what I've been excited about lately. What a labor of love."

Lee likens the album to his Tommyland disc, stating that the material will vary in style from track to track, hinting at EDM, hip-hop and screamo elements. "There's a Prince cover called 'When You Were Mine' that we slowed down and is fucking insane," says the drummer.

"There's literally every single different genre that you could imagine," continues Lee. "That's why I want to call it Trans Genres because it's literally all over the place, which I love. It's my favorite thing. I love swishing it up from track to track. But this is literally a whole side of one kind of eclectic thing and one side of the other kind of eclectic thing. I like records like that. I don't like records that sound like it's pretty much the same thing."

The drummer promises a wealth of special guests, including South African rapper Push Push, PLYA singer Julia, Ellie, rap battle artist Shotty Horroh, hip-hop/dubstep group Foreign Beggars and Rock Star: Supernova alum Luka Rossi.

The album has reportedly been recorded and mixed with a planned release date of March 2020.
